The future of Glencoe is looking brighter according to the following press release.
15 December 2003
Glenshee Chairlift Company are delighted to announce
that the Glencoe Ski Centre will now open for weekend
skiing as soon as suitable snow conditions prevail.
This commitment to open at weekends has been made
possible due to the outstanding public support we have
received from the local community and the Scottish
skiing public at large since the recent announcement
to mothball the centre.
In particular Glenshee Chairlift Company would like to
thank the Glencoe staff, Glencoe ski patrollers and
the Glencoe Ski Club coordinated as a group by Bobby
Williamson. Without their commitment and goodwill even
this limited opening may not have been possible.
Glencoe Ski Centre has also received undivided support
from Lochaber Enterprise and The Highland Council.
Discussions continue with these bodies and other
interested parties through which we hope to create a
framework that will ensure the long term well being of
Scotland's oldest ski centre.
Glencoe Ski Centre season tickets are now available
for £180 and due to the limited operation of the
centre the ticket will also be valid at Glenshee Ski
Centre.
